We told them so. We did. We told them so for over a year. We said “he is unelectable”. We challenged his campaign’s claims that he would “reinvent” the electoral map. We said, show us proof. We laughed at the idea that he would win by a landslide, like he and his campaign promised. We saw right through his arguments in defense of the stupid 50-state strategy of Howard Dean. We pointed to all of the polls from Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Arkansas, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, etc etc, showing Hillary Clinton trouncing John McCain. We pointed to her PROVEN record at winning in red areas and winning over independents. We pointed to her 300+ estimated electoral college win maps put out by so many sites. We could have had a Clinton/Obama Whitehouse, which would have guaranteed a Democratic White House for 16 years. We could have won the women’s vote, the Latino vote, the Black vote, the Jewish vote, the Catholic vote, and the labor vote all and won the White House.

But instead, money and ego prevailed. Obama’s supporters, covert and overt, got him the nomination, despite having lost the POPULAR vote including the caucuses and Florida and Michigan, all of which VOTED legally. May 31st was when the DNC RBC took Hillary’s delegates and gave them to Obama, which along with the hand-over of the uncommitted votes there to Obama, contributed to an illegal ruling and couple this with the backdoor meeting the news teams reported about there that day, and this all shows that that meeting was a fraud. And thus, she would be the nominee, Sarah Palin would be just a regular governor of Alaska, and John McCain would have chosen Mitt Romney or some other joke as his running mate, thus leaving the conservatives unenergized, and depressed with George Bush’s drag on the party, which has now vanished thanks to Sarah Palin.

We told ya so, now even Congress is tightening up, WTF? He is terrible for down-ticket dems:

Need I post more? His lead is shrinking in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Washington. Come on guy, where’s the beef?

McCain’s choice does NOT take the issue of inexperience off the table for Barack Obama. He is the PRESIDENTIAL nominee. He is going to be the leader of the free world, or at least if he manages to win. Biden is experienced on foreign policy, that’s about it. Palin will be experienced on domestic policy while McCain is on foreign policy and military policy.

And she thanked Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton in her acceptance speech, and she did it to applause in the swing state of Ohio today. McCain’s choice has certainly just won him the White House. The largest group of swing voters and voters period, women, now have even more of a reason to vote for McCain, even if they had reason before thanks to the Obama campaign’s sexism, and the media’s sexism, and the DNC’s sexism.

As we all know, Barack Obama is popular with some of the kids of today, NOT ALL OF THEM. But the degree to which some of this hype goes is rediculous. Here in Iowa City, the Obama-stronghold in the state, it is hilariously sad. With so many students from the Chicago suburbs, and with so many hippie-wannabes here, he is more popular than coffee and huge sunglasses!

I recall in October, walking on campus with a dear friend and suddenly being approached by a kid in a white tee-shirt emblazoned with “Got Hope?” on the front, yes, “Got Hope” like the “Got Milk?” ads. He proceeded to ask me and the girl I was with “So, are you guys seriously racist?”, and he pointed to my Hillary Clinton pin on my backpack strap. We laughed, told him he is obsessed with a worthless P.O.S., and walked on.

And we all know of the fake fainting and the crying, and the Obama girl.

Why bring this up? It was recently announced Obama will send out his VP choice via text message. The announcement of who will possibly be our next Vice President is going to be sent out on a text message. This seems more and more like amateur hour. Ugh. He can’t run a convention, he can’t unite the party, he can’t win a debate at all as we clearly saw at Saddleback the other night, and he can’t stay in one position on a plethora of issues. The DNC and the Obamabots will get exactly what they deserve if they nominate him later this month.

Speaking of VP choices, I heard that an Obama campaign guy opened his big mouth and said in a foreign country, Sweden I believe, that the VP won’t be a woman unless it’s Hillary, which I am hoping she is not the choice. We know Ted Strickland, Jim Webb, and Mark Warner have all refused to even be considered.

As for McCain’s, it has been said, via the National Review, that he may be prepping republicans for a pro-choice vp. I am guessing it is someone like Frmr. NY Governor George Pataki or Tom Ridge? Who knows, but this is only helping McCain pick up those independents and angry democrats.

I will be in Denver most likely, and we shall see then how this plays out.

There was that time he called Iowans “Ingrown” and was surprised that we didn’t just have concerns about corn, but we actually knew about things like Burma! Wow, we know things other than farming…

I think the arugula thing shows us how arrogant and how out of touch he is from every day Americans. Most of us didn’t even know what arugula really is here, except maybe some of the very rich. The “Ingrown” comment shocked me. Iowa has consistently ranked almost the highest in education standards and we are well known for this. It is on the state quarter for God sakes. And believe it or not, Iowans are not hicks as he seems to suggest, we have rather large urban centers in places like Des Moines, the Quad Cities and in the Cedar Rapids areas, and Iowa City is highly refined and multi-cultural because it is the site of the great University of Iowa. If I were the Iowa GOP I would look into running commercials using these facts, because the latest poll from Iowa shows McCain cutting Obama’s lead from 10 points down to 5 points…

I have been absent for quite sometime. I have had several health issues and I moved into my new home up at school. Sorry.

I haven’t had a chance to blog about the John Edwards scandal since the last post. It started as tabloid news and then proved itself to be true. This issue angers me to the fullest extent. Not because he cheated on Elizabeth, his dying wife. But because he selfishly injected himself into this race and helped prop up Barack Obama, our weakest General Election Candidate. Had Edwards stayed out of the race, there isn’t a doubt in my mind that Hillary Clinton would have won Iowa by a slight margin and thus the nomination. But we got stuck with Barack Obama, the weakest guy possible. Chris Dodd or Joe Biden outshine Obama for the position by a mile, and Hillary Clinton creams him in the qualifications and electability sectors. We would have had a guaranteed victory in 2008, likely carrying the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Arkansas, West Virginia, Nevada, New Mexico, Missouri, and maybe Kentucky.

So, John Edwards is to blame for the 4 years of McCain we are about to get. Not all the blame should fall on his pretty little cheatin’ shoulders however, Barack Obama is to blame as well. He could have played along and guaranteed the dems 16 years in the White House. With his young age and his need for more experience, a VP position or something high up could have done exactly that, 16 years. Nope. He chose himself over America, as usual.

Polls are showing Obama neck and neck with McCain in a year where the dem should be crushing the republican. Kerry was ahead of Bush in 2004, Dukakis was ahead in 1988 at this time….so why is Obama tied with John McCain? Because we put up our least electable candidate against their most electable candidate. That’s why.

Barack Obama will lose in November. It’s a shame, but fault lies with Howard Dean, Barack Obama, John Edwards, and many other DNC leaders that coalesced to prevent Hillary from getting the nomination. She won even when it was declared that Obama had won the nomination, she even won the last primary (South Dakota) and she won many of the final states by double digit margins (WV, KY, PR, RI, OH, PA, SD).

It’s a shame she didn’t get it.

We needed her to.

Living in along the Mississippi River has its perks, and its downfalls. Across the river in Illinois, some people are still without power from the storm that ripped through the area the other morning. I work at a hardware store, and we ran out of chainsaws and generators so fast that day. We just got over the flooding that happened a few weeks ago. The Mississippi here in Davenport flooded over its banks and engulfed most of the parks along the river, the skybridge, the casino, the baseball park, the ice-skating center, and River Drive (aka Hwy. 67). We are the largest settlement on the Mississippi without a floodwall……wtf? Although, we had it nowhere near as bad as the folks along the Iowa and Cedar Rivers did. Cedar Rapids looked rediculous, and my beloved Iowa City looked terrible too. I still don’t know where I am going to go to buy textbooks, etc since the Union was flooded, and so was the library and the entire art department.

Barack Obama is still on his whirlwind visit to Europe and the Middle East. He is reported to be too tired to stand up, and is I am sure enjoying his first dip into the realm of International Relations. I wonder if he and his people think this is going to help him in the Foreign policy creds area…..because it won’t. He is famous for partaking in photo-ops, much like our current President. But nothing can salvage his sad record. He is going up against John McCain (I’ll get to him in a minute), a war hero, yes, a war hero, and someone with vast foreign policy creds. By the way, I have been noticing many Obama signs disappearing in my area in yards….I am curious as to why. My personal opinion? People are having buyer’s remorse and people are feeling embarassed to have that sign in their yard.

McCain continues being old and uninteresting, as usual. I have been noticing more and more McCain signs around here, but I am sure the sign wars will only intensify from this point forward.

Our governor, who I voted for, continues to be an annoyance to me. He passed his smoking ban. The thing that irks me about this, and I am not a smoker, is that the only exceptions were on the floors of casinos, and in one veteran’s hall. First of all, why just that veteran’s hall? What about the others? And secondly, the only reason the casinos got exceptions is because they heavily financed Chet Culver’s campaign. He has been less than vocal or supportive on the Marriage Equality fight going on in Iowa right now. He has an unfortunate personal postion on the issue, but one we have all come to live with. And finally, he is supportive of a measure that will hurt unions in the state, and I am big on supporting unions.

Ugh, why can’t most democrats have spines? Instead of just a select few using their spines, they all need to grow some. FISA is a great example of this. Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and the ilk, all supported FISA…..those few people in Congress with spines deserve credit, like our senator Tom Harkin, and New York Senator Hillary Clinton. Marriage Equality is another one. Al Gore came out for it. I wish people would coalesce around it now, when the time is ripe, and when it could make a difference. I applaud the Governator and California for it’s recent actions, and I have and continue to applaud Massachusetts.

Ugh, I gotta go to the hospital to get some tests done and to see how I am going to afford this….no insurance. Stay safe
